LIBERTYVILLE, ILLINOIS, U.S.A., 1996 JAN 4 (NB) -- Motorola Inc.
has introduced, what the company calls, the world's smallest and
lightest cellular phone available today.

The company said the 3.1-ounce StarTAC Wearable Cellular Telephone
is about the size of a pager. It incorporates a two-battery system
that automatically switches to the second battery when the first
one is depleted, even in the middle of a call. Motorola said the
two lithium-ion batteries can power the phone for up to four hours
of continuous talk time or 47 hours of standby time. The batteries
are about half the size of current phone batteries.

Other features of the StarTAC Wearable phone include a Smart
button for one-handed use and VibraCall, which allows the user to
switch from the audible ringer to a vibration alert when the phone
rings, in the same manner that many pagers operate.

There is also an optional headset jack for hands free conversation
and a series of accessories.
